Artavaz
Артаваз · Արտավազ
Artavaz is a summit on the southern slope of the Pambak mountain range in Kotayz province, rising to 2,929 meters. It's also known as Köroghlu, and it stands out among Pambak peaks for a semicircular form rather than a typical ridge or cone. The rock itself is nephaline syenite, an alkaline igneous stone.
The mountain's slopes are protected as a biological natural monument, registered as the "Relict cirque on Artavaz mountain." A village bearing the same name, Artavaz, sits at the foot of the peak, about 4 km to the southwest.
Artavaz sits in Kotayk province, roughly 53 km north of Yerevan as the crow flies, above the village of Artavaz at its base.
