Bargushat Mountains

Баргушатский хребет · Բարգուշատի լեռներ

The Bargushat Mountains form the eastern extension of the Zangezur range, running about 70 km with a width of 15 to 26 km. The chain stretches east from Mount Naapet and separates the drainage basins of the Vorotan, Vokhchi and Gegh rivers.

A geological break called the Khustup-Girataksky fault splits the range into a higher northwestern section and a lower southeastern one. Mount Aramazd is the highest point; Mount Yerkatasar is another named peak worth noting. Tributary canyons of the Vorotan and Gegh cut deep into the slopes on both sides.

The range lies in Syunik region, near the town of Tatev, roughly 172 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
