Cathedral of Talin, Aragatsotn, Armenia

Cathedral of Talin

Талинский собор · Թալինի մայր տաճար

The Cathedral of Talin stands in the cemetery on the northeastern edge of Talin, in Aragatsotn province, and it matters for one reason above all: it's counted as a unique example of a basilica built around a domed, cross-shaped core. No inscription or written record names its builders or its date. Architects reading its layout and construction technique place it in the second half of the 7th century.

Its construction is attributed to the Kamsarakan family.

The cathedral sits in Talin, in Aragatsotn province, roughly 59 km west-northwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.
