Dashtadem Fortress
Крепость Даштадем · Դաշտադեմի ամրոց
Dashtadem Fortress is a large defensive complex that stayed in active use for well over a thousand years — the 5th through the 19th century by one account, the 7th through the 20th by another. Older records also list it under the name Nerqin Talin.
The fortress occupies a plateau that extends southeast from Mount Arteni, within Aragatsotn province.
About 1.7 km to the south, in a village cemetery, stands Kristapori Vank, a 7th-century monastery (vank) that has since been restored. It can be made out in the distance from the fortress.
Dashtadem Fortress stands at the southern edge of Dashtadem village in Aragatsotn province, roughly 59 km west-northwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
