Debed Canyon
ущелье Дебед · Դեբեդի կիրճ
Debed Canyon is a steep, sometimes stepped gorge cut by the Debed River as it flows north through Lori Province toward the Armenian-Georgian border. Its walls are a mix of forest, shrub cover, and open grass, depending on the stretch.
The slopes support a wide range of wild berries — blackberry, mulberry, and cornelian cherry (a tart red dogwood fruit) — along with wild pear and wild apple trees. Down in the valley floor, the terrain shifts to orchards: peach, quince, fig, apple, and walnut are all cultivated here.
The canyon lies in Lori Province near the town of Odzun, about 96 km north of Yerevan in a straight line.
