Gegasar (Little Spitakasar)
Маленький Спитаксар · Փոքր Սպիտակասար
Gegasar, also known as Poqr Akagh, Poqr Aghdagh, or Little Spitakasar, is a peak in the Ughtupar mountains, marking the border between the Ararat and Gegharkunik regions. It reaches 3,443 m and formed as a volcanic dome — one without a crater at its top.
The slopes carry alpine meadow vegetation, and several rivers begin here, among them the Kajaru, a tributary of the Azat river.
Gegasar sits on the boundary of the Ararat and Gegharkunik marzes, roughly 42 km east of Yerevan as the crow flies.
The slopes are alpine meadow, so the vegetation is at its fullest through the summer months.
