Церковь · Եկեղեցի
Hogevank Chapel Ruins are what's left of a domed monastery church raised in 1205, standing above Sarnaghbyur village in Shirak province. An inscription over the north entrance carries the construction date. The complex is also known locally as Karmir Vank or Dzoragyughi Vank.
The main church follows a domed-hall plan, with rectangular vaulted chambers flanking the central apse and recessed niches on every facade. People often call it surb (saint) Karapet, but an inscription inside dedicates it instead to surb (saint) Stepanos. The 1939 earthquake brought down the cylindrical drum and dome; both were rebuilt in the 1980s.
About 50 meters north of the main church stand the ruins of a smaller single-nave building with a four-apse cross plan, its apses three-sided on the outside along the lower wall courses.
The ruins sit in Shirak province near Sarnaghbyur village, about 67 km northwest of Yerevan in a straight line.
