Ijevani Argelavayr

Ijevani Argelavayr is a state nature reserve (արգելավայր, protected area for wildlife) in Tavush region, established in 1971 to protect forest landscapes and animal life. It spans 5,908 hectares within the Aghstev river basin, covering slopes of the Ijevan mountain range at elevations between 900 and 2100 meters.

The reserve exists specifically for forest and wildlife protection, rather than as a site set up for visitors.

The reserve is in Tavush region, near the town of Ijevan, about 93 km north-northeast of Yerevan in a straight line.

Elevation within the reserve runs from 900 to 2100 meters, so conditions differ considerably between the lower and upper slopes.
