Kaputjugh

Капутджух · Կապուտջուղ

Kaputjugh (Կապուտջուղ) is the high point of the Zangezur mountain range, standing at 3,870 m. It marks the border between Syunik Province and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan.

From base to summit the mountain climbs about 1,815 m. It ranks as the second-highest peak in Armenia, after Aragats. The slopes hold deposits of granite and granodiorite.

Kaputjugh sits in Syunik Province, roughly 171 km southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.

At nearly 3,870 m, snow cover lingers into late spring, and conditions on the upper slopes shift quickly — plan around season and weather rather than the calendar date alone.
