Khor Virap Sanctuary
Хор Вирап · Խոր Վիրապ արգելավայր
Khor Virap Sanctuary is a state-protected wetland covering 50.28 hectares in Pokr Vedi village, Ararat province. It sits on the left bank of the Arax river, next to the Khor Virap church complex, and on the right-hand side of the site of Artashat, once the capital of Armenia.
The area is managed for conservation, scientific study, and recreation on wetland ground rather than for the church complex itself, though the two sit side by side.
Dogs are allowed on site, and it's listed as suitable for children.
The sanctuary lies in Ararat province, within the administrative area of Pokr Vedi village, about 33 km south of Yerevan in a straight line.
