Modern Art Museum of Yerevan
Музей современного искусства · Ժամանակակից արվեստի թանգարան
The museum was established in 1972, largely through the initiative of Henrik Igityan, then-mayor Grigor Hasratyan, and a number of leading Armenian artists of the era who wanted the capital to have a dedicated home for contemporary work. It has remained on Mashtots Avenue ever since, in the heart of Kentron.
As one of the earlier venues in Armenia devoted specifically to modern and contemporary art, it holds a particular place in Yerevan's cultural landscape, distinct from the classical and national art collections found elsewhere in the city.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, from 11:00 to 18:00, and can be reached by phone or email for visitor inquiries.
The museum stands on Mashtots Avenue in Kentron, Yerevan's central district, making it an easy stop on foot for anyone exploring the city center.
