Nahapet
Наапет · Նահապետ
Nahapet is a mountain peak straddling the border between Syunik and Nakhichevan, part of the Zangezur mountain range, standing 3,376 m above sea level. It sits in the upper basin of the Geghi river.
The peak is built from Paleogene-Neogene volcanic and volcanosedimentary rock. Its summit is bare and rocky, and traces of glacial relief remain on its slopes. Below the rock line, the landscape turns to mountain meadow.
Nahapet lies in Syunik region, on the border with Nakhichevan, about 163 km southeast of Yerevan as the crow flies.
The mountain-meadow zone below the summit points to a warm-season landscape; the bare, rocky top and glacial traces suggest snow lingers into the higher months.
