Papakari Mountains
Папакар · Պապաքարի լեռներ
The Papakari Mountains form a low, eroded ridge straddling Armenia's border with Georgia and Azerbaijan. The chain runs 24 km, from the Debed river valley to the point where the Kura and Khrami rivers join, with average heights between 600 and 1000 meters.
The rock is limestone, sandstone, and marl, worn into shallow valleys along the slopes. At the base, outwash cones are common, and patches of sparse forest and drought-resistant shrub cover parts of the terrain. The range's highest point is the peak that shares its name, Papakari.
The range lies in Tavush region, ~131 km north-northeast of Yerevan (straight-line), on the border where Armenia meets Georgia and Azerbaijan.
