Tars
Тарс · Թարս
Tars is a mountain summit straddling the border between Armenia's Tavush region and Georgia's Marneuli district, rising to 900 meters. It sits within the Lesser Caucasus range, in the central section of the Gugark mountain chain.
The peak's main significance is hydrological rather than scenic: it forms the watershed line separating the Debed river basin from the Aghstev river basin, meaning rain falling on one side eventually reaches one river system, and rain on the other side reaches the other.
Tars lies in Tavush region, on the border with Georgia's Marneuli district, roughly 128 km north-northeast of Yerevan as the crow flies.
