Saint Sarkis Church of Ashtarak

Saint Sarkis Church stands at the edge of a gorge across from the town of Ashtarak, in Aragatsotn province. Its position on a promontory looks out over the ravine toward three other churches in town — Tsiranavor, Spitakavor, and Karmravor. The church of S. Mariane is also nearby, in the town center.

Directly below Saint Sarkis, in the gorge itself, is a bridge dated to 1664. A path descends from the church down into the gorge and crosses that bridge, connecting the site to Ashtarak on the other side.

Saint Sarkis Church is in Aragatsotn province, on the edge of Ashtarak town, about 18 km northwest of Yerevan as the crow flies.
