Shkhmuradi Monastery

монастырь Шхмурад · Շխմուրադի վանք

Shkhmuradi Monastery is a monastic complex on the left bank of the Varagajur river — also called the Hakhum — in a valley in Tavush region. It's one of the area's less-documented church sites, known chiefly by name and setting rather than by any surviving record of its founding.

The complex sits roughly 6-7 km southwest of Tsaghkavan village, in the river valley rather than above it.

No construction date, patron, or dedication has come down in the available record. What remains is the location itself: a riverside valley site, its history otherwise unwritten.

Shkhmuradi Monastery is in Tavush region's Ijevan area, about 106 km northeast of Yerevan in a straight line, southwest of Tsaghkavan village.
