Surb Karapet — "Holy Forerunner," the Armenian title for St. John the Baptist — is a monastery complex registered as an architectural monument. It stands where the village of Moshaghbyur once stood, on the north slope of the Urtsi mountains in the Ararat region.
No village remains there now; the monastery is the marker of where one used to be.
In Armenia's Ararat region, near the village of Lusashogh — about 6 km to its southwest — and roughly 50 km southeast of Yerevan in straight-line distance.
