Urtsi Range
Урцский хребет · Ուրծի լեռներ
Urtsi Range runs through the southern part of Ararat region, closing off the Ararat plain from the southeast. It stretches roughly 25 to 28 km, up to 11 km wide, and its highest point, Urts peak, rises past 2400 m. The range formed through folding and faulting, and its ridge marks a watershed line: streams here feed toward the Shaghap tributary of the Vedi river, the Arazdayan, and the Araks.
The whole range lies within Khosrov Forest State Reserve (a protected forest and semi-desert reserve), set in a dry, semi-desert landscape rather than forest cover. Goravan Desert lies just to its west.
Urtsi Range is in Ararat region, roughly 49 km southeast of Yerevan (straight-line), inside the boundaries of Khosrov Reserve.
