Tegenyats mountains
Техеняцский хребет · Թեղենյաց լեռներ
The Tegenyats mountains form a ridge straddling the Kotayk and Aragatsotn regions, part of the southern branch of the Tsaghkunyats range. The range runs about 20 km and is partly covered in forest. Its high point, Tegenis (also called Alibek), reaches 2851 m.
The ridge begins at the Arqayits peak and, splitting into two branches, wraps around the area near the village of Buzhakan in Kotayk region.
The Tegenyats mountains lie in Kotayk region, near the town of Charentsavan, roughly 36 km north of Yerevan (straight-line).
Forest cover on the lower slopes makes the range most walkable in the warmer months, before snow settles on the higher ground near Tegenis.
