Vishapakar

Вишапы · Վիշապաքար

Vishapakar — the name means "dragon stone" — is a stone monument in Yeghegnadzor dedicated to the vishap (dragon) cult, an older belief system that predates Armenia's Christian era. It stands in the town's Momik Park.

The stone is listed among Yeghegnadzor's registered monuments of history and culture, one of the markers the town keeps of practices that came before the churches and khachkars (carved cross-stones) more commonly seen in the region today.

Yeghegnadzor sits in Vayots Dzor region, about 84 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line. The stone is in the town's Momik Park.
