Спитакавор · Սպիտակավոր
Spitakavor is a 14th-century monastic complex 7 kilometers north of Vernashen village, near Yeghegnadzor in Vayots Dzor province. Its full Armenian name, Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God), identifies it as a Marian foundation; some sources also record it as Tsaghkavank.
The ground around the monastery is cut by deep gorges. On top of the nearest mountain stand the ruins of Prosh Fortress, also known as Bolorapert.
Spitakavor is in Vayots Dzor province, near the town of Yeghegnadzor, roughly 82 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
