Tarkatar is a mountain peak in the Bargushat range, in Syunik region, reaching 3,277 meters. It sits southeast of the Aramazd peak and about 4.5 km northeast of the village of Verin Geghavank.
The name appears in several variants in older records — Tarakatar, Taharyokhush, Qarakatar, and Qarkatar among them — all referring to the same summit.
Tarkatar lies in Syunik region, near the town of Tatev, roughly 177 km east-southeast of Yerevan in a straight line.
